Through scouting, boys learn outdoor skills, assume leadership roles, help to improve their community through service projects, and experience new adventures as they advance through the Boy Scout ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life... and hopefully Eagle. Our troop is operated on a Boy Led/Boy Run scout philosophy, which means that the boys take responsibility for Troop programs, conduct meetings, and plan activities and outings. Scouts are assisted by the Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters (trained adult leaders), and parents, who all offer guidance, teach skills, and provide merit badge counseling. Parents are themselves organized through the Troop's Parent Committee and Assistant Scoutmasters, who meet regularly to provide the structure and program support to make it all work.
